The Salmon DNA Method

Barrier Loading

Athletes build up to race day. Your skin can build up to the big day.

A six week lead up that loads your routine with salmon DNA, exosomes and hydration before summer, a wedding, a long flight or a holiday.

Definition

What is Barrier Loading?

Barrier Loading is a six week skincare lead up, borrowed from the way athletes build up to race day, where you load your routine with salmon DNA, exosomes and hydration before a big moment, like summer, a wedding, a long flight or a holiday, so your skin looks its best on the day.

The term was originated by Sam Thompson, founder of Salmon DNA Australia on the Gold Coast, in 2026. Also written as barrier loading, and known as the Barrier Load.

The principles

01

Start six weeks out

Skin renews its surface roughly every four to six weeks. Six weeks gives a full cycle of fresh looking skin built on a loaded routine. Four weeks is the minimum.

02

Front load the big moves

Peels and new products go early, so anything they stir up has settled long before the day. The final two weeks are for topping up only.

03

Nothing new at the end

The last days stay simple: the same stack, a sheet mask and eye patches the night before. No experiments.

The plan, week by week

The 6 week Barrier Load

  1. Week 6

    Start the load

Switch to the full PDRN Stack morning and night. Do a Snow Peel at the very start of the week. Your first weekly Skin Booster treatment, on a different day to the peel. One sheet mask.

  2. Week 5

    Settle in

The stack twice a day. Skin Booster treatment two. One sheet mask, and start Puri Eyes patches once a week.

  3. Week 4

    Load

The stack twice a day. Skin Booster treatment three. Step up to two sheet masks and two sets of eye patches this week. Finish nights with a richer cream.

  4. Week 3

    Load

Want a second Snow Peel? Do it at the start of this week, and make it your last. Skin Booster treatment four, on a different day. Two sheet masks and two sets of eye patches.

  5. Week 2

    Top up

No more peels. Your fifth and final Skin Booster treatment. A sheet mask every fourth night and eye patches twice this week.

  6. Week 1

    Top up

The same stack, morning and night. A sheet mask every fourth night and eye patches when you need them. No new products.

  7. Last two days

    Hold

Nothing new. No peels, no experiments. One last sheet mask and a set of eye patches the night before.

  8. The day

    Go

Cleanse, Daily Serum, a light layer of cream and SPF. Then go.

Short on time? Four weeks is the minimum: start the plan at week 4 and do one Snow Peel at the very start.

Questions

Frequently asked

What is Barrier Loading?

Barrier Loading is a six week skincare lead up, borrowed from the way athletes build up to race day, where you load your routine with salmon DNA, exosomes and hydration before a big moment, like summer, a wedding, a long flight or a holiday, so your skin looks its best on the day.

Who originated Barrier Loading?

Barrier Loading was originated in 2026 by Sam Thompson, founder of Salmon DNA Australia on the Gold Coast, as part of The Salmon DNA Method alongside PDRN Stacking and Barrier Banking.

Why six weeks?

Your skin renews its surface layer roughly every four to six weeks, a little slower as we get older. Six weeks gives a full cycle of fresh looking skin built on a loaded routine, with room for a peel early and nothing new in the final days.

Can I load in less time?

Four weeks is the minimum. Start the plan at week 4, do one Snow Peel at the very start, and skip peels and new products in the final two weeks.

How many products do I need?

The daily PDRN Stack, one box of five Skin Booster treatments, two boxes of sheet masks, Puri Eyes patches, and a Snow Peel if you want one. A richer night cream is optional.

What happens after the big day?

Keep it going with Barrier Banking, the daily habit of small deposits into your skin barrier.
